A Philadelphia Airport experience

Philadelphia Airport Hotel

One night in Philadelphia

Some folks at the Tourist Information are very friendly and feel sorry for their nice Airport with no service offerings at all in the early evening. All bars and catering shuts down around 10 and visitors are forced to find some hotel fast.

One may call a variety of Philadelphia Hotels, but not much interest should be expected as their business seems to be doing extremely well.

If lucky and after hours of waiting and calling one may end up in a $85-120 place with no service at all included.

The rooms might be decent but for breakfast a dirty cantina room with a run down coffee machine and some fluffy muffins can not be described as any convincing.

Philadelphia

And then flying back from the Caribbean with U.S. Air to New York had even been worse when having to switch planes again in Philadelphia.

Restaurant prices inside the Airport are outrageous and the food quality is overall as pathetic as on board of U.S., some Airline, which can not even handle baggage forwarding at their own homebase.

In addition some extremely unintelligent and unfriendly custom officers can also do their very best to create the worst possible experience when coming to Philadelphia.

For example one custom officer had been totally confused by an unopened can with delicious Caribbean Carrot soup and other sealed food. In fact that really got him working for a while and of course he did not pay any attention to the mentioned connection flight and time running out fast.

Arriving then late evening at La Guardia New York without luggage and finding some fully useless U.S. Air help desk had shown, that traveling in America can be worse than in many so called third world countries.

Of course also offer superb assistance can be enjoyed in many U.S. locations, but somehow Philadelphia does not seem to be any interested in creating a good impression.

And so is their Airline, the dying U.S. Air, which probably most people try to avoid wherever possible after a first experience.

Not even one meal on an International long distance flight and some fully unmotivated crew looks as poor as their badly organized ticket delivery service. In fact getting an electronic ticket with them is highly recommended.
